I have been called lots of names, luckily most of them nice.My favourite, is ‘consumer champion’.It probably all started with my saying ‘Watch out …. everyone is after your money!Learn how to outsmart them.”
I am a Certified Financial Planner and have nearly 20 years experience in the financial services industry. It all started when I accepted a job in corporate superannuation with MLC in 1990 which was a wonderful organisation to work for as they brought out the best in me (some would say worst!) and exposed me to many interesting and amazing challenges. As a Client Service Manager, I gained invaluable experience addressing the financial planning needs of senior executives of large corporations.Probably, my favourite part of this role was getting out meeting members of superannuation funds, many of them hard working men and women who work their butt off on the factory floor.I did hundreds of superannuation and wealth creation seminars in strange and weird places and gained enormous satisfaction knowing that most of them understood that their superannuation fund was their money and had to be taken seriously. After that I was promoted to the role of Business Development Manager for Central Queensland and in 1998 appointed State Dealership Manager. In this role I mentored financial planners and trained and assisted them to develop complex financial planning strategies. Most importantly, I was responsible for ensuring they complied with all the relevant regulations (and there are hundreds of them!).This is where I had the opportunity to really understand the financial planning industry and what makes it tick.I am happy to share this inside knowledge and believe it gives me a huge advantage when I discuss consumer issues.
Then life goes into a different direction. I get married, have three kids and decide to leave the very busy and demanding corporate world for a life on my own (family has to come first). It is a wonderful feeling not being tied to any particular organisation. As luck would have it, in 2005 I stumbled into radio land which is so much fun. I pinch myself every day. Just hope you enjoy the show and thanks for making it so successful.I am also hoping www.askjosiekay.com.au goes on for a very long time. The reality is that it won’t survive unless we get lots of hits and our sponsors are supported.I thank you from the bottom of my heart for visiting and hope you tell everyone you know about this free service. You would also be helping us if you registered your email address to receive the latest from the site and practical money tips.
Cheers and if you have a question about anything I have outlined above, don’t hesitate to send me an email via www.askjosiekay.com.au.I would love to hear from you.
